Samsung Galaxy S10 Comes With a Cryptocurrency Wallet

The new Samsung Galaxy S10 is confirmed to come with a built-in cryptocurrency wallet. The app will be a part of the Samsung Knox software suite, designed to protect personal data of the phone user. According to the insiders, Knox will be available on all Galaxy S10 models.

In its announcement, Samsung said:

“Galaxy S10 is built with defence-grade Samsung Knox, as well as secure storage backed by hardware, which houses your private keys for blockchain-enabled mobile services.”

It is yet unknown how involved will the wallet set up be — some rumours claim that the system will prompt to set up the wallet during the initial setup of the phone, others say that you need to open the app manually first.

The existence of the wallet is not a large surprise — previously Samsung acquired several cryptocurrency-related patents for their mobile division. If all of them will be used, the new wallet will support all ETH-20 tokens, as well as the other major cryptocurrencies.

Despite Samsung claims, the new wallet is not as secure as the hardware wallets, simply because it allows for many more vectors of attack. However, it is a massive step toward the popularization of cryptocurrency.
